Leadership :: Community + Events Organizer for GDG Atlanta
GDG Atlanta is a community-run developer oriented group that focuses on sharing Google's developer products with developers. From joining the group in 2014 to rising as one of the lead community organizers for GDG Atlanta, Streetcat has focused on personal + community growth rooted in accessible and resourceful programming that easily engages people's use of powerful development tools via Google's Cloud services + more.
GDG DevFest is a large, community-run event that offers speaker sessions across multiple product areas as well as code labs for hands-on learning for Google's developer products. Streetcat organized this event for over 100+ developers in Atlanta.
We received funding from Google for event costs + the space from General Assembly Atlanta for free. As an event geared towards cloud + web/mobile app development, we featured speakers from Google as well as an international Google Developer Expert on Android development.
This project was kept on a strict budget and we raised good amount of funds for our 2017 operational + events costs.
ATL Developer Happy Hour
In conjunction with the FlatironCity building + the developer groups there, we started hosting a monthly social event at the FlatironCity building to encourage social networking among web + mobile app developers.
As part of our monthly programming, our regular meetups consist of a presentation on a Google developer-related topic and allow for open discussion or questions on a range of topics. We regularly have 15-20 people show up to our monthly meetups and range in a variety of design + development backgrounds in both the Atlanta startup and corporate scenes.
